Since 1999
In 1999, Solmon Chowdhury opened Shanti in Dorchester because his neighborhood deserved extraordinary Indian food. He named it Shanti — the Sanskrit word for peace. More than 25 years later, Shanti is Boston's most decorated Indian restaurant: Best of Boston 2012 & 2018, Zagat Excellent five times, Boston Globe 4/4, and a 2026 Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Honoree. We roast our spices in-house every day. We serve the full breadth of the Indian subcontinent — from Bangladeshi Bhuna to regional rotating dishes. Two restaurants in Dorchester and Roslindale, a catering kitchen in Roxbury, a monthly subscription box, and Holi Mela — Boston's largest South Asian festival. We've been your neighbors since 1999.
